Single Photon Emitters Coupled to Plasmonic Waveguides: A Review

چکیده
During the last two decades, many research groups have demonstrated coupling of single photon emitters to plasmonic waveguides, promising very high emission enhancements, for applications in quantum technologies. In this review, recent developments within important topic are discussed. Different waveguide–quantum emitter configurations compared from application viewpoint by utilizing a figure-of-merit (FOM) reflecting enhancement, efficiency, and radiation loss. The experimental methods applied obtain coupled systems with FOMs described. Configurations that exploited reinforcing i.e., efficiency funneling emitted into waveguide, also considered as well scalability potential various waveguide platforms. A experiment, which enhanced light–matter interaction is taken advantage of, resulting demonstration non-linearity at level,

Coherent single-photon absorption by single emitters coupled to one-dimensional nanophotonic waveguides
We study the dynamics of single-photon absorption by a single emitter coupled to a one-dimensional waveguide that simultaneously provides channels for spontaneous emission (SE) decay and a channel for the input photon. We have developed a time-dependent theory that allows us to specify any input single-photon wavepacket guided by the waveguide as the initial condition, and calculate the excitat...

Nanoscale generation of individual photons in confined geometries is an exciting research field aiming at exploiting localized electromagnetic fields for light manipulation. One of the outstanding challenges of photonic systems combining emitters with nanostructured media is the selective channelling of photons emitted by embedded sources into specific optical modes and their transport at dista...

631 Photonic technologies are becoming increasingly prevalent in our daily lives. After decades of rapid advances, light sources — especially lasers and light-emitting diodes — have become high-performance, yet low-cost and reliable components, driving the Internet and lighting cities. A new frontier of research is the development of non-classical light sources: sources that produce streams of ...
متن کاملSingle emitters coupled to plasmonic nano- antennas: angular emission and collection efficiency
We study the angular emission of a single emitter near a metallic nanoparticle by experiments and numerical calculations. In the experiments, a single fluorescent molecule is controllably scanned near an optical monopole antenna. Large changes in the angular emission of the molecule occur due to the coupling to the particle. Both the polarization and intensity of the angular emission show a dis...
متن کاملA More Realistic Coupled Dipole Approximation Model for Plasmonic Waveguides
Well-known coupled dipole approximation method is extended to multilayered media to obtain a more realistic model for plasmonic waveguides. The key component of the developed method is the layered medium Green's functions. Theoretically calculated resonance frequencies show a very good agreement with the experimental results found in the literature. Keywords-plasmonic waveguides; dispersion; pr...
